A piece of Thailand
A Piece of Thailand 🇹ðŸ‡
With the aim of spreading the messages of Lord Buddha and principles of Buddhism among the masses, some Buddhist monks in collaboration with the government of Thailand established the Thai Temple and Monastery in Bodhgaya in 1957.
Of all the monasteries in Bodh Gaya, Thai monastery stands out for its exceptional architecture and stunning beauty. Sloping and curved roof of the edifice is covered with golden tiles is an insignia of Thai architecture.
As you step inside, an enormous precisely sculpted 25-meter-high statue of Lord Buddha with his hair tied in a bun catches the eye. Corners are decorated with images and carvings of Buddha in different forms.
Every year in the month of January retreats are arranged. Maximum capacity of the retreats is 135 people who indulge in meditation, teachings on awakening and Vipassana Yoga. Interactive sessions on daily life issues and liberation are also attended during this time.
